Gandhinagar, February 25 (NationPress) - The state of Gujarat is set to host the third installment of the Semiconnect Conference on March 1 in Gandhinagar. This event will unite prominent semiconductor executives, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore India's growing significance within the global supply chain.

The two-day conference is organized by the Department of Science and Technology of the state and the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM).

This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for promoting technological self-sufficiency, highlighting the semiconductor industry as a pivotal aspect of India's developmental roadmap.

Attending the inaugural session will be Gujarat's Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel; Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Railways, and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw; Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi; and the Minister for Science and Technology, Arjun Modhwadia.

The conference theme, 'Gujarat: India’s Gateway to Silicon', underscores the state's ambition to become a key player in India's semiconductor landscape.

With its robust infrastructure, expansive industrial corridors, and investor-friendly policies, Gujarat aims to enhance semiconductor manufacturing and research capabilities nationwide.

According to officials, the event will feature keynote speeches, focused panel discussions, and international roundtables.

The first day's agenda will concentrate on advanced semiconductor research and manufacturing, logistics and export capabilities for hubs like Dholera and Sanand, as well as workforce development to address future skill needs.

Topics will also cover the enhancement of India’s electronics sector, including printed circuit boards and the establishment of a resilient component ecosystem.

Simultaneous sessions will include a Micron Suppliers Roundtable, country-specific discussions with Japan and Taiwan, and an educational seminar titled 'From Silicon to Students: Building India’s Semiconductor Future'.

On the second day, participants will engage in a guided tour of the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR).

This visit, coordinated by GSEM, DICDL, and Tata Electronics, aims to provide attendees with firsthand insights into the infrastructure developments associated with the semiconductor industry.

Notable speakers scheduled for the conference include Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics; Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology; G.C. Chaturvedi, Chairman of CG Semi; Ramesh Kunhikannan, Executive Vice Chairman of Kaynes Technology; Ajit Manocha, CEO of SEMI; and Dr. Rao Tummala, Emeritus Professor at Georgia Tech.
