Gandhinagar, July 24 (NationPress) Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is set to inaugurate a brand new NCC Leadership Academy at Navli in Anand district on July 25, representing a significant advancement in the government's mission to promote discipline, leadership, and national service among the youth.
Spanning an impressive 15 acres, this academy is designed to serve as a center for creating responsible citizens through contemporary military-style training.
Constructed under the auspices of the Gujarat government, this academy is the third of its kind in the state, following the establishments in Ahmedabad and Rajpipla, and will function under the Vallabh Vidyanagar Group Headquarters of the NCC.
In its initial phase, the academy has been set up at an investment of Rs 5 crore, equipped with residential and training amenities for 200 cadets.
Upon the completion of the second phase, which will cost Rs 25 crore, the facility will be capable of training 600 cadets, making it the largest NCC academy in Gujarat.
The academy will boast various facilities including rock climbing walls, obstacle courses, a firing range, digital classrooms, and a fully equipped drill ground, ensuring that the training meets modern standards for youth preparedness.
NCC officials emphasize that this academy is more than just a construction project; it is a strategic investment in building the character of India's future leaders. Beginning July 28, the academy will kick off its inaugural programs, which will include a Youth Disaster Preparedness Camp and a Combined Annual Training Camp. In the long run, regular NCC camps will also be hosted on the premises.
Col. Manish Bhola, the Commanding Officer of the 4 Gujarat NCC Battalion, remarked that the expanded capacity will enhance Gujarat's cadet strength, which currently stands at 75,000 with a goal of 85,000. This will also be instrumental in preparing cadets for prestigious national events such as the Republic Day Parade in Delhi, with selections now being conducted directly from this academy.
To date, the NCC in Gujarat has facilitated over 135 military training camps and more than 45 social awareness camps, engaging over 1.9 lakh students. The state has seen 20 cadets commissioned as officers and 213 enrolled as Agniveers.
