Gurugram, Jan 27 (NationPress) Mukesh Sharma, the BJP MLA representing the Gurgaon constituency, convened a meeting on Monday with relevant officials to hasten the progress of infrastructure development projects and enhance civic amenities.
The MLA held discussions with senior staff from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).
During the meeting, various ongoing and future projects initiated by the GMDA were reviewed, and essential action points aimed at improving the city's infrastructure and amenities for the community were established by the Gurugram MLA.
“Gurugram stands as one of the premier smart cities in India and is one of the most rapidly developing economic centers in Haryana. The GMDA is implementing significant projects to further propel the growth and development of the Millennium City. Our vision is to transform Gurugram into a world-class urban hub that meets international standards in every aspect while providing top-quality civic amenities to its residents,” stated the MLA.
Several strategies to further bolster the infrastructure and enhance public amenities within the city were deliberated upon during the meeting.
The ongoing drainage improvements by GMDA aimed at upgrading Gurugram's drainage system and mitigating the challenges of waterlogging during the monsoon season were presented by the involved officers.
Sharma stressed that the cleaning and desilting of the open drain in Sector-5 and ensuring that the surface drain connects effectively with the master stormwater drain from Atul Kataria Chowk to Bhagat Singh Chowk should be prioritized to provide relief to residents in the upcoming monsoon.
Furthermore, GMDA officials reported that new road gullies would be constructed every 10 meters along the main sector roads to facilitate the prompt disposal of stormwater during the rainy season.
The conversation also touched on the need to enhance CCTV surveillance throughout the city.
GMDA CEO Shyamal Misra mentioned that approximately 1,200 cameras are currently operational in Gurugram, significantly aiding in traffic management and monitoring.
Additionally, GMDA is embarking on Phase 3 of the initiative, which will see the installation of an extra 10,000 cameras to further improve CCTV coverage.
The MLA highlighted that priority should be given to installing a sufficient number of CCTV cameras in key public spaces, including all major markets and parks, to bolster security in these densely populated areas.
“To ensure the provision of safe, clean, and well-equipped social infrastructure in the city, the improvement of Leisure Valley Park in Sector-29, Tau Devi Lal Botanical Garden in Sector 52, and Tau Devi Lal Park in Sector-22 was also discussed. The Gurugram MLA emphasized the need for adequate lighting, sanitation, landscaping, and synthetic tracks for the benefit of park visitors,” he noted.
The Infra-I division of GMDA reported that over 64 km of main sector roads and 17.2 km of service roads will be repaired to enhance the road infrastructure in Gurugram and improve road safety for commuters.
Sharma instructed that the establishment of footpaths should also be taken into account to ensure safe pedestrian movement.
