Gurugram, May 6 (NationPress) - In a bid to bolster public safety during emergencies, a comprehensive mock drill is scheduled to take place in Gurugram under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday, as confirmed by officials.

This exercise will encompass 11 districts throughout Haryana.

The Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority and Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar convened a meeting with departmental officers in Gurugram to outline the precautions for Wednesday.

He stated that the mock drill will occur at specific sites within the district.

At 4 p.m., a loud siren will sound to alert residents.

For this operation, a command control area and emergency operations center will be set up at the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat.

A staging area for dispatching relief teams to impacted sites will be established at Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

Five rescue teams, each led by a task force manager, will be stationed there.

These teams will comprise ambulances, medical personnel, fire brigades, police officers, Civil Defence volunteers, and other critical resources for rescue efforts.

Kumar emphasized that the aim of the mock drill is to assess readiness during an air raid warning, ensure the effective operation of primary and auxiliary control rooms, review evacuation strategies during emergencies, and evaluate actions amid a blackout to confirm preparedness for real-life situations.

The Deputy Commissioner mentioned that a scheduled blackout will occur in the district on Wednesday night as part of the mock drill.

He encouraged citizens to turn off their home lights and cooperate with the drill, advising them to remain indoors during the blackout.

Kumar highlighted that the administration is utilizing various channels to raise awareness.

Schools have been instructed to communicate blackout safety measures to students during morning assemblies, he added.

Resident welfare associations and key institutions are also being contacted to ensure the success of this drill.

He reassured residents that there is no cause for alarm -- the purpose of this exercise is to evaluate the preparedness of all involved departments and test the rapid response system.

Citizens are expected to adhere to the instructions provided by the administration during the drill, the Deputy Commissioner concluded.
