Bhopal, April 10 (NationPress) In a tragic event, a man from Gwalior took his own life after being profoundly affected by his daughter's reported “elopement” and subsequent marriage to a neighbor.
The individual, who operated a medical store in the “Bhairon Baba ka Mandir” vicinity, made this desperate choice by shooting himself in his bedroom late on Wednesday night, within the jurisdiction of the Jhansi road police station.
Authorities revealed that the man’s family disclosed he felt a profound sense of humiliation and defeat due to his daughter's decisions.
Hina Khan, the city superintendent of police, informed IANS: "The family has indicated that the daughter’s elopement and subsequent marriage are the main reasons for this heartbreaking action. The police had located the daughter, but since she is an adult, she willingly chose to marry the man."
The businessman left a suicide note expressing his sorrow regarding his daughter’s choice to wed the man she ran away with. He confessed in his anguish that he contemplated harming both his daughter and her husband, but ultimately wrote, “How can I kill my own daughter?”
The police officer mentioned that he criticized the Indian Constitution, claiming it deprives fathers of their rights once their daughters reach adulthood.
