He mentioned that initiatives like One District One Product (ODOP), PM Mitra Parks, and Digital India e-commerce integration are enhancing artisans' access to technology, innovation, and market opportunities.

“These initiatives work in unison to reinforce the ‘Made in Manipur’ brand, symbolizing authenticity, sustainability, and excellence. Empowering our weavers uplifts entire communities, ensuring that Manipur’s rich legacy continues to inspire globally,” stated the Governor.

Bhalla pointed out that the MANITEX 2025 event is not just a showcase of fabrics and designs, but a vibrant celebration of Manipur’s identity, creativity, and craftsmanship.

“Every weave narrates a story of our people, culture, and deep-rooted connection to the land. From hills to valleys, each community enriches the tapestry with unique themes, colors, and techniques, reflecting the beautiful diversity defining Manipur’s textile heritage,” he remarked.

The Governor acknowledged that the Expo effectively bridges tradition and innovation, linking artisans, many of whom are women, with national and international markets. It transforms skills into opportunities and heritage into livelihoods, reaffirming that Manipur’s strongest asset lies in the hands of its weavers.

“MANITEX exemplifies how tradition can embrace modernity without losing its essence,” Bhalla added.

Held under the theme “Weaving a Sustainable Future: Manipur’s Handloom Heritage to Global Fashion,” the Expo (MANITEX-2025) is organized by the Department of Textiles, Commerce and Industry and the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles of the Manipur government.

Officials noted that the main goal of MANITEX 2025 is to showcase Manipur’s rich array of handloom, handicraft, and textile products globally, with a strong emphasis on eco-friendly textiles, natural dyes, and sustainable weaving practices deeply rooted in Manipuri traditions.

During the inaugural event, 3,000 frame looms and accessories were distributed to weavers as part of the National Handloom Development Programme.

Additionally, financial support was provided to 60 ex-trainee artisans for acquiring tool kits.

The Governor also launched the Data Book of National and State Awardees of Manipur and unveiled the Handlooms and Textiles Calendar 2026.

Notable attendees included State Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Transport) Anurag Bajpai, Padma Shri awardees, distinguished guests, officials, weavers, and members of the public.
