Hyderabad, Jan 11 (NationPress) - T. Harish Rao, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), expressed his discontent with the Revanth Reddy administration regarding the recent hike in movie ticket prices. He questioned the very existence of a government in Telangana and who holds the reins of power.
His remarks came in response to the Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s claim that the recent government orders approving increased movie ticket prices were enacted without his awareness or approval. Rao sarcastically noted that the drama unfolding in the Telangana Secretariat surpasses that of any thriller currently playing in cinemas.
Taking to ‘X’, Rao criticized the government amid rising tensions following the High Court's admonishment of officials over the ticket price escalations for films featuring Prabhas and Chiranjeevi.
“While one hand issues a government order raising ticket prices, the Cinematography Minister claims ignorance. How can a major decision occur in a department without the minister's knowledge?” Rao questioned.
Rao went further to challenge Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, asking if he was running a government or merely a “circus.”
He lamented that despite the High Court's intervention, the government's stance remained unchanged.
According to Rao, the administration seems to engage in self-congratulation within the Assembly while making arbitrary decisions in practice.
He highlighted a contradiction between the Chief Minister’s earlier assurances about no ticket price hikes and the sudden issuance of government orders increasing prices for three films, with more supposedly on the way.
Rao accused the Chief Minister of misleading the Assembly concerning the ticket pricing issue.
“Komatireddy's comments suggest that the ticket price hike stems from the Chief Minister's directive. If GOs are being issued without the minister’s knowledge, who is truly in charge of this government?” he concluded.
