Chandigarh, April 19 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday inaugurated and laid the groundwork for development initiatives totaling Rs 55.38 crore in Panchkula. This includes the unveiling of a new bridge over the Ghaggar river, constructed at a cost of Rs 50 crore, aimed at transforming the area into a smart city.

Additionally, he laid the foundation for two dispensary buildings in Sector 28 and 31, estimated at Rs 4.64 crore, along with the Gram Sachivalaya in Kanauli village in Barwala, budgeted at Rs 74.38 lakh.

Furthermore, Saini announced the allocation of Rs 5 crore for various development projects in numerous villages within the Panchkula Assembly segment.

Saini expressed that these projects will act as a significant milestone in the transformation of Panchkula into not only a smart city but also a cleaner, healthier, and more livable urban area.

He emphasized that the objective is to develop Panchkula into a smart city equipped with essential amenities for its residents.

Highlighting the broader vision, he stated that a developed Haryana plays a crucial role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a developed India.

“For Haryana to progress, the development of Panchkula is indispensable,” he remarked, adding that Haryana will be pivotal in achieving the Prime Minister's vision of a fully developed nation by 2047.

Extending his best wishes to the people of Panchkula, the Chief Minister noted that April 19 is a day of joy for the region.

He mentioned that the development initiatives launched have provided fresh momentum and direction to Panchkula’s growth. With optimism, he added: “I am confident these projects will play a vital role in the development of Panchkula, a city flourishing under the divine blessings of Mata Mansa Devi and Nada Sahib.

The bridge over the Ghaggar river, constructed by the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), spans 360 m in length and 16 m in width, significantly enhancing regional connectivity. It will provide easier access to Zirakpur, Rajpura, Patiala, and the Mohali airport, and serve as a convenient shortcut for commuters heading to Panchkula’s southern sectors, Zirakpur, and the southern sectors of Chandigarh.

This bridge is anticipated to reduce travel distances by approximately five to seven km and alleviate traffic congestion in the region. This crucial infrastructure is part of the ring road project that aims to improve connectivity between Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. Once fully developed, the ring road will help decongest not just Panchkula but also Chandigarh, providing significant relief from traffic pressure.

The Chief Minister noted that this is the third bridge in Panchkula that connects sectors across the Ghaggar River. Besides benefiting residents of Sectors 25, 26, 27, 28, and 31, the bridge will also enhance access for individuals traveling from Barwala and Ramgarh.

With direct connectivity to National Highways 5, 7, and 152, the bridge is set to become a significant milestone in the development of Panchkula and its adjacent areas in Punjab.
