Chandigarh, Feb 20 (NationPress) Haryana’s Transport Minister Anil Vij announced on Thursday that the state’s daughter Rekha Gupta has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Delhi. She becomes the second daughter from Haryana to hold this prestigious position after Sushma Swaraj.
“The appointment of a daughter from Haryana as Delhi’s Chief Minister has brought joy to the people of Haryana. Previously, Sushma Swaraj also served as Delhi’s Chief Minister. I extend my congratulations to Rekha Gupta on her new role,” Vij stated during a press conference.
Sushma Swaraj made history in 1998 when she became the first woman to lead Delhi as its Chief Minister.
In Haryana’s Jind district, celebrations erupted following the announcement of Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA with close ties to the BJP and RSS, as the incoming Chief Minister.
“For the last 27 years, the presence of opposition governments in Delhi has stalled development, but that era is over now.” Delhi, being the nation's capital, will thrive under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Chief Minister Gupta and her Cabinet, who will strive to position Delhi as a development leader,” Vij emphasized.
When asked about Delhi’s development, Vij remarked that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance and developmental policies, BJP governments have taken root across most of the country.
With enthusiasm, he expressed, “If we observe the map of our country, it appears predominantly saffron, with only a few dark spots. I am confident that in the near future, these dark spots will also fade away, and BJP governments will emerge in those regions as well.”
Regarding municipal elections in Haryana, Vij asserted that some individuals begin to complain even before the elections, a habit the Congress party is known for.
“The Congress is headed for a significant defeat in the municipal corporation, municipal council, and municipal committee elections. They are aware of this, which is why they are attempting to shape a narrative in their favor,” he stated.
In response to a query about the Punjab government’s initiative to support deported Indians from the US with psychological assistance, the former state Home Minister remarked, “This is a commendable initiative as deported individuals have faced numerous hardships. Supporting them during tough times is a positive move.”
When questioned about the state's efforts to aid deported individuals, Vij explained, “While this is not directly under my department, if other departments request our assistance, we will dispatch a well-equipped bus to facilitate the return of these individuals.”
Furthermore, he instructed department officials to prepare food packets to accompany the bus, recognizing that these individuals might be hungry and thirsty after their long journey. Therefore, food packets will be provided along with the bus.
