New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Dharmendra Pradhan were among the prominent BJP leaders who extended their congratulations to the newly appointed Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta.

At 50 years old, Gupta, the MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was chosen as the leader of the BJP legislature party during a meeting this evening, overseen by two central observers – former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and BJP national Secretary Om Prakash Dhankhar.

As a first-time MLA, Rekha Gupta will become the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj (BJP), Sheila Dikshit (Congress), and Atishi (AAP). She is set to take her oath during a grand ceremony at the iconic Ramlila Maidan in the city at noon on Thursday.

In response to the news, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his sentiments on X, stating, “I extend my hearty congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Rekha Gupta ji on being elected the leader of the BJP Legislative Party. I have full faith that you will operate with dedication towards the resolution set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji to position Delhi as one of the foremost capitals globally. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also reacted, posting on X, “Many congratulations and best wishes to Smt. Rekha Gupta ji on her election as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party in Delhi. I firmly believe that with the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Delhi will evolve into the developed capital of a developed India.”

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took to X to congratulate, stating, “Congratulations Rekha Gupta on your election as leader of the legislative party of Delhi BJP.
