Hyderabad, July 10 (NationPress) The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Telangana Police has apprehended several individuals including the president, treasurer, and CEO of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), along with two others, on charges of forgery, cheating, and misappropriation of funds.
On Thursday, the CID announced the arrests of A. Jagan Mohan Rao (HCA President), C.J. Srinivasa Rao (Treasurer), Sunil Kante (CEO), along with Rajendra Yadav (General Secretary of Sri Chakra Cricket Club) and G. Kavitha (President of Chakra Cricket Club).
According to Charu Sinha, Additional DGP of CID, the case involves the forgery of documents aimed at cheating and misappropriating funds with a criminal breach of trust.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Dharam Guruva Reddy, General Secretary of the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA), the CID initiated a criminal investigation on June 9 under various sections of the IPC.
As per the statement from the Additional DGP, the investigation revealed that A. Jagan Mohan Rao, working in collusion with C. Rajender Yadav and G. Kavitha, created fraudulent documents for the Sri Chakra Cricket Club, previously identified as Gowlipura Cricket Club, by forging the signature of its President, C. Krishna Yadav. These falsified documents were presented as legitimate, allowing Rao to unlawfully gain entry into the HCA as President.
Additionally, it was reported that Rao, in collaboration with C.J. Srinivas Rao, Treasurer, and Sunil Kante, CEO of HCA, misappropriated public funds with malicious intent, and unlawfully restrained officials from IPL Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), including intimidation claims regarding complimentary tickets and corporate access.
There have been serious allegations concerning ticket irregularities during the IPL 2025 season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
HCA officials allegedly coerced the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad for extra tickets, some earmarked for personal sales.
In response to SRH's threats to relocate from Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered a thorough inquiry by the Vigilance Commission.
The Commission reportedly validated SRH's claims against HCA officials and recommended necessary actions.
Jagan Mohan Rao assumed the presidency of HCA in October 2023. He established the Akshara Educational Society in 2010, managing six schools, and founded two NGOs aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and employment.
Rao has held significant positions, including the presidency of the Handball Federation of India, and has been a key figure in the Premier Handball League and the Telangana Handball Association.
