Hyderabad, Aug 10 (NationPress) Telangana, including Hyderabad, is expected to experience heavy rainfall from August 13 to August 16 due to intense to very intense convection occurring in the Bay of Bengal near the coast of Andhra Pradesh, as reported by a leading official on Sunday.
Disaster Management Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar announced on X that the ongoing convection is likely to result in very heavy rainfall during this period in both Hyderabad and Telangana.
He recommended that businesses, particularly in western Hyderabad, consider adjusting their hours to avoid heavy traffic and congestion on August 13 and 14.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low-pressure area in the northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal around August 13.
As a precaution, it has issued an orange alert for several districts in Telangana from August 13 to 16. Heavy to very heavy rain is anticipated in isolated areas of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, and Mulugu districts on August 13. Meanwhile, eighteen districts recorded normal rainfall, while seven districts faced deficiencies, the highest being 37 percent in Mancherial district. Remaining districts exhibited deficits ranging from 20 to 33 percent.
