New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and DDA Chairman, V.K. Saxena, on Monday, unveiled the revitalized historic structures in the southern part of Delhi's Sanjay Van, part of the Authority's initiative to safeguard the city’s vibrant heritage.

The Lieutenant Governor remarked, “We are committed to reviving and conserving heritage sites, transferring them to the residents of Delhi to foster a sense of stewardship and guardianship.”

He emphasized that comprehensive development is being implemented for the benefit of Delhi’s citizens, aligning with the Government’s vision for enhanced livability.

Two historical structures and a well have been restored to their original splendor. Notably, a water cascade has been incorporated into one of the structures, maintaining the natural ambiance, according to an official announcement.

On this occasion, Member of Parliament Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, local MLA Gajainder Singh Yadav, and DDA Vice Chairman Vijay Kumar Singh were also present.

The restoration efforts in Sanjay Van commenced in May 2023, during LG Saxena’s initial visit to the green area.

He ensured that the preservation of historic structures, environmental enhancements, and site restoration were undertaken with urgency. Several decayed heritage structures have been revived to their authentic historic glory, and the area has been transformed into a splendid public green space under his close oversight.

Sanjay Van serves as one of Delhi's major green lungs and is a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. It has become a sanctuary for both native and rare migratory bird species. The region is adorned with various historic structures dating back to the eras of Prithviraj Chauhan and Anangpal Il of the Tomar dynasty, among others.

The DDA has been instrumental in the restoration of heritage and historical structures across the national capital. Recent projects include the conservation of Mehrauli Archaeological Park, St. James Church, and the renewal of Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti.
