Shimla, April 20 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stated on Sunday that ensuring the safety of life and property in the face of a blaze "is not merely a duty but a noble service" as he inaugurated 13 fire-fighting vehicles to bolster emergency response capabilities.
During the concluding ceremony of Fire Service Week at the Fire Training Centre located in Baldeyan, Shimla district, the Chief Minister honored fire service personnel for their remarkable contributions and presented awards.
He also paid homage at the Shaheed Smarak and announced a financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for the families of two firefighters, Joginder Pal and Ghanshyam, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty in 2009 while serving in Nalagarh, Solan district.
The Chief Minister commended the courage and commitment of fire, Home Guard, and police personnel, affirming, "Protecting life and property amidst raging fires is not just a responsibility but a noble service."
He highlighted that the government is diligently working to enhance fire services, especially considering Himachal Pradesh's susceptibility to disasters due to its mountainous terrain.
He mentioned that efforts are underway to fill vacant positions in the Home Guards Department and that the recruitment process for 700 new Home Guard personnel will begin shortly.
The Chief Minister also recognized the essential contributions of fire services, Home Guards, and SDRF personnel during the 2023 monsoon-related disasters.
He criticized the previous Bharatiya Janata Party government for mismanagement of public funds and asserted that the current administration has curbed corruption and generated an additional revenue exceeding Rs 2,200 crore by taking strict action against corrupt individuals.
He stated that significant reforms are being implemented in the education and healthcare sectors.
The state is contemplating the introduction of a CBSE curriculum in government schools, starting with 100 schools, he mentioned.
In addition, healthcare reforms are progressing to improve medical services across the state, as asserted by CM Sukhu.
The Chief Minister assured that these initiatives would produce visible and positive outcomes in the near future.
