Chandigarh, June 16 (NationPress) During his recent visit to the Una Assembly constituency, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu inaugurated and laid the groundwork for several projects totaling Rs 25.79 crore, emphasizing the enhancement of education and infrastructure.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the Government Senior Secondary School Boys building in Una, constructed at a cost of Rs 8.79 crore.
This new facility aims to provide students with superior educational resources and significantly improve the academic atmosphere, as stated in an official release.
He also unveiled a modern academic block at the Government Degree College of Una, which features smart classrooms, contemporary laboratories, and administrative units built at a total expense of Rs 12 crore.
Additionally, he laid the foundation for a new girls' hostel estimated to cost Rs 5 crore.
The hostel will provide safe and convenient living arrangements for students, particularly those from rural and remote regions.
In his speech, the Chief Minister announced that starting from the next academic session, the Government Senior Secondary School Boys would transition into a co-educational institution modeled after the CBSE system.
He emphasized that government schools need to meet the standards of other English medium convent schools, with English medium instruction commencing from the first grade and plans to recruit 500 expert teachers for the subject.
Moreover, 961 positions are being filled for TGT Arts, Medical, and Non-Medical roles, while 600 JBT recruitments will also begin shortly.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the government is setting up Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day Boarding Schools in each assembly constituency, with a budget allocation of Rs 200 crore for this year.
These schools will offer education from pre-primary to Class 12 under the CBSE curriculum and will feature high-tech smart classrooms, playgrounds, indoor stadiums, swimming pools, and music rooms.
