Raipur, Sep 22 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah has praised the security forces for their significant operation in Narayanpur district, where two prominent Maoist leaders were neutralized during an ongoing encounter near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border in the Abujhmad region.
This operation represents a crucial step forward in India's efforts to eliminate Left Wing Extremism.
“Today, our security forces have claimed another major victory against the Naxalites,” HM Shah stated on Monday.
“In the Abujhmad territory of Narayanpur, our forces successfully eliminated two Central Committee Member Naxal leaders—Katta Ramachandra Reddy and Kadri Satyanarayan Reddy. This action delivers a significant blow to the Maoist hierarchy and brings us closer to dismantling the menace of red terror.”
The encounter commenced early this morning when a combined team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Border Security Force (BSF), based on accurate intelligence, entered the dense forests of Abujhmad.
Maoists opened fire on the forces, resulting in a fierce firefight.
Superintendent of Police Robinson Guria reported that two Maoists were killed during the clash, and their remains, along with their weapons, were retrieved from the scene. Security personnel are continuing to search the area, with sporadic gunfire still being reported.
Officials suspect that additional Maoist militants may still be hiding in the vicinity and have intensified their search efforts. This operation is part of a larger crackdown on Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh.
To date in 2025, a total of 248 Maoists have been neutralized across the state in various encounters. Of these, 219 were eliminated in the Bastar division, which includes Narayanpur.
The Gariaband district recorded 27 fatalities, while two were reported in the Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadh Chowki district. On September 11, ten Maoists—including Modem Balakrishna, a Central Committee member—were killed in Gariaband.
This latest success in Abujhmad underscores the growing effectiveness of coordinated intelligence and operational strategies on the ground. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and avoid forested areas until the situation normalizes.
