Srinagar, Sep 22 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Gulam Jeelani Pandit, who served as the former Director General of the J&K police. Pandit, aged 92, passed away on Sunday. In a message of condolence, the Lt Governor stated: “I am deeply saddened by the news of Shri Gulam Jeelani Pandit Ji’s departure, who was the former DGP of Jammu and Kashmir.
“His dedication to duty and service to the nation will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time. I pray for the peace of his departed soul.”
Born on February 22, 1933, he was the 4th DGP of J&K police, having taken office on May 21, 1987. The inaugural DGP was Peer Ghulam Hassan Shah, who served from May 25, 1982 to January 16, 1985.
