Mumbai, Oct 27 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday launched the campaign for the forthcoming local and civic body elections in Maharashtra, urging party workers to achieve a decisive victory against the opposition to establish a “triple-engine government” in the state.
“In Maharashtra, the BJP-led NDA has triumphed three times, and Devendra Fadnavis has assumed the Chief Minister's role for the third time. Maharashtra currently operates under a double-engine government, but I aim for more — we aspire for a triple-engine government. The party must engage fully in the upcoming elections, leaving the opposition barely visible,” HM Shah stated while addressing BJP members after inaugurating the foundation stone for the new Maharashtra BJP office in South Mumbai.
Shah reminisced about the BJP’s independent campaign following its split from the undivided Shiv Sena before the 2014 elections, which led the party to emerge as the largest faction under CM Devendra Fadnavis. He emphasized that since then, Fadnavis has held the Chief Minister’s position three times, and the BJP has transformed from being the fourth-largest party to a dominant political force in Maharashtra.
“I take pride in the BJP’s growth in Maharashtra, remaining steadfast to its ideology and traditions. Today, the BJP stands on its own merit, not reliant on any political crutches. Just as the BJP has made its mark in Indian politics, it has also established a robust presence in Maharashtra’s political landscape,” he remarked.
The Home Minister highlighted the historical importance of the location for the new headquarters.
“This land in Mumbai witnessed the merger of Jan Sangh into Janata Dal, leading to the inception of the BJP. As Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji once said: ‘Andhera chhatega, kamal khilega’ - darkness will dissipate, and the lotus will flourish,” he added.
HM Shah expressed pride in seeing Narendra Modi serving as Prime Minister for a third consecutive term.
“We have demonstrated that family-run parties can no longer dominate Indian politics. It is performance-based politics that will propel the nation forward. A child born into a humble tea-seller’s family has shown that dedication and hard work lead to the Prime Minister's office. A party that cannot maintain democracy within its ranks cannot safeguard democracy in the country. This is our message to all dynastic parties,” he stressed.
He further stated that under PM Modi, the BJP has delivered on key promises, including the construction of the Ram Temple and the abrogation of Article 370, while some states have begun implementing the Uniform Civil Code.
“Under PM Modi, India has emerged as a formidable nation and the world’s fourth-largest economy, with a government prioritizing national security. Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev exemplify our zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism,” HM Shah asserted.
