Bengaluru, Oct 17 (NationPress) In a bold statement, Karnataka's leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, has declared that if any harm befalls him, the Kharge family must bear the blame.
His remarks follow the state's decision to withdraw his security detail.
Narayanaswamy accused Minister for RDPR, IT, and BT, Priyank Kharge, and others of orchestrating this action. He stated, "I have received threats of being set on fire and have been subjected to menacing calls. My security was revoked due to my outspoken criticism of the state government," he asserted.
The opposition leader demanded explanations from the Chief Minister and the Home Minister; otherwise, he threatened to return all government-provided amenities.
“This government is out to eliminate us. Recently, Priyank Kharge shared a threatening video, while security was reinforced around his residence without any complaint. I had publicly detailed the threats against me, yet my protection was removed, and additional security was granted to him," he alleged.
He noted that official notices were issued, leading to the reassignment of his security personnel.
"If anything happens to me, the Kharge family and the current government must be held accountable. We are being targeted. They previously assigned three police personnel for my protection, which was my right, but now that has been revoked. Their intent is to instill fear," he claimed.
When questioned, he challenged Minister Priyank Kharge, asking, “How many of your family members are actively involved in the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS), an organization advocating for Dalits? Who among your kin has taken part in community protests?”
Narayanaswamy further remarked that he would refrain from responding to the alleged “attacks” on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). “This government didn't even dare to mention the RSS during the cabinet meeting," he asserted.
