Srinagar, Dec 4 (NationPress) An FIR has been filed against a hotel located in J&K's Pahalgam hill station for failing to report the presence of two foreign nationals, according to police reports on Thursday.
Authorities in Anantnag district stated that the FIR was lodged due to a breach of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
A team from the Police Station Pahalgam, during regular checks of hotels and lodging facilities in the Rafting Point area, discovered that Hotel Golden Heritage, situated at Rafting Point, Yenner, had hosted two Thai nationals without completing the required Form C, as stated by a police official.
“This form, which all establishments accommodating foreign visitors must submit online, is vital for the reporting and verification protocols established under the Act,” the official continued.
The hotel allegedly hid the stay of these visitors, a significant security breach and a violation of legal responsibilities intended to guarantee appropriate monitoring of foreign tourists.
“In response to this finding, FIR No. 79/2025 was registered under Sections 8 and 23(b) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, at Police Station Pahalgam. An investigation is currently ongoing,” the police official noted.
According to the Immigration and Foreigners Act 2025, all foreign arrivals in J&K are required to register with the Foreigners Registration Office.
Furthermore, it is mandatory for hotels, houseboats, lodges, guesthouses, and homestay facilities to report their foreign guests to the nearest police station.
Property owners in J&K have also been urged to document their tenants' details with the relevant police station to alleviate any inconvenience caused to the public due to incorrect identity issues.
Identifying outsiders residing in J&K's cities and towns is a critical security measure to prevent anti-social and anti-national elements from using temporary accommodations for subversive activities in the Union Territory.
