Hyderabad, Dec 17 (NationPress) – A tragic incident occurred in which a Class 4 student reportedly took his own life by hanging at his residence in Hyderabad, as per police reports on Wednesday. The event took place in the Rajendra Reddy Nagar Colony of Chanda Nagar on Tuesday evening.
The young boy, Prashanth, who was enrolled in a private school, hanged himself in the washroom shortly after he returned home from school.
It is alleged that the nine-year-old used the tag from his school ID card attached to a binding wire in the washroom to hang himself.
His parents stated that he went into the washroom without changing out of his school uniform right after arriving home.
When he did not exit for an extended period, family members knocked on the door. After receiving no answer, they forced the door open and discovered him hanging.
They rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Upon being informed, the police quickly arrived at the scene and sent the body to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem.
The motives behind the boy's drastic action remain unclear. A case of death under suspicious circumstances has been filed at Chandanagar Police Station within the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
Prashanth’s father, Shankar, expressed that his son was very lively and had no known issues with anyone.
Shankar and his wife Parvathi are from Kothapalli village in Medak district, and Prashanth was the younger of their two children.
Shankar works as a watchman in the apartment complex where they reside and previously served as a driver at the same school where his son studied.
The police have taken statements from Prashanth’s parents, as well as teachers and classmates, to uncover the cause of his tragic decision.
Investigators are looking into whether the boy had a conflict with any students or if he had been reprimanded by a teacher, which could have influenced his actions.
Meanwhile, the boy's remains were returned to his family following the postmortem, and he was taken back to his village for the final rites.
A similar case was reported in the Rajendranagar area last year when a Class 4 student committed suicide after being reprimanded by his mother for not completing his homework.
