Hyderabad Instagram Influencer Arrested Over Viral Highway 'Cash Hunt' Stunt

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (NationPress) An Instagram influencer has found himself in legal trouble after his video featuring a 'Cash Hunt' challenge on Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road (ORR) went viral.

The individual in question shared a video where he tossed bundles of currency notes along the ORR, inviting viewers to partake in a 'Money Hunt'. The footage quickly gained traction online.

In the clip, the accused was observed throwing bundles of Rs 200 notes near the roadside close to ORR exit number 9 in Ghatkesar, daring viewers to find and collect the cash. As per police reports, he purportedly claimed to have discarded a total of Rs 20,000 on the ground.

Following the video's surge in popularity, numerous individuals flocked to the area, halting their vehicles on the ORR to search for the supposedly hidden money. This activity caused significant traffic disruption and raised safety issues, prompting intervention from ORR patrol personnel.

The Rachakonda Police took action and arrested the reckless Instagram influencer, as his actions resulted in chaos, inconvenience, and posed a serious threat to road safety.

In light of the situation, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu instructed the Ghatkesar Police Station to take appropriate measures.

Authorities heightened security at exit number 9 and implemented regulations to prevent vehicles from stopping in the vicinity.

The Ghatkesar police documented the incident, identified the individual, and took him into custody.

A case has been filed against him under Sections 125 and 292 of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 8(1b) of the National Highway Act.

The Rachakonda Police Commissioner remarked that such thoughtless actions not only jeopardize lives but also set a negative precedent for others.

"Social media should serve as a platform for inspiration and education, rather than reckless behavior. The Rachakonda Police are dedicated to ensuring public safety and holding individuals accountable. Use your social media responsibly—create content that is thoughtful and safe," the Commissioner stated on ‘X’.
