Hyderabad, Dec 22 (NationPress) The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) took decisive action by arresting a Ugandan national and subsequently deporting her to curb her involvement in activities that threaten national security, as confirmed by an official on Monday.
Juliana Victor Nabitaka, a 27-year-old from Kampala, was residing in India despite her visa expiring in January 2025.
The police reported that she had been unlawfully residing in India, engaging with drug traffickers, distributing narcotics, and participating in illegal activities.
She was apprehended while accompanying a drug dealer within the jurisdiction of Tolichowki Police Station. During questioning, she could not provide a satisfactory explanation or valid documentation regarding her stay in Hyderabad. Following a comprehensive investigation, she confessed to overstaying her visa.
Nabitaka arrived in India on a tourist visa, landing in Mumbai in February 2024.
Throughout her time in India, she traveled to various tourist hotspots, living in Chennai for four months, Mumbai for two months, and Bengaluru for eight months. During her travels, she formed connections with other foreign drug dealers and eventually got involved in drug trafficking in Bengaluru and Hyderabad to support a lavish lifestyle, as stated by Vaibhav Gaikwad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/HNEW.
The H-NEW has initiated the deportation process with the help of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Hyderabad. An exit permit was secured from the FRRO, and she was prohibited from re-entering India.
In a related operation, the Cyberabad Police dismantled a drug operation in a co-living hostel, arresting two drug dealers and three users. The operation was conducted by the Special Operations Team (SOT) under the jurisdiction of Raidurgam Police Station.
Authorities seized 12 grams of MDMA, 7 grams of OG kush, and six mobile phones during the raid.
The arrested drug dealers were identified as Vamshi Dileep and Bala Prakash from Andhra Pradesh, while the drug users were named Manikantha, Rohith, and Tarun, all from Hyderabad.
