New Delhi, June 24 (NationPress) The Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully repatriated 286 Indian nationals currently in Israel, transporting them from Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt. This operation has now facilitated the return of a total of 594 citizens from Israel.
Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan was present to welcome the returning nationals in New Delhi.
This flight marks the second IAF mission aimed at bringing back Indians from Israel, following an earlier flight that brought 165 citizens to the National Capital.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced via X that, "Today’s third flight from Israel carried 268 Indian nationals, welcomed by MoS L. Murugan. The IAF C-17 flight arrived in Delhi at 1100 hrs on June 24, contributing to the ongoing Operation Sindhu, with a total of 594 Indians repatriated from Israel."
The IAF's involvement includes the use of C-17 aircraft to safely evacuate Indian nationals and citizens from friendly nations like Nepal and Sri Lanka amid the ongoing conflict in Israel.
Prior to the latest flight's arrival, the MEA disclosed that the Israel segment of Operation Sindhu commenced on June 23 via Jordan, achieving its first successful repatriation with 161 citizens landing in New Delhi from Amman.
