Mehsana, Oct 24 (NationPress) The Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) mesmerized spectators at Mehsana Airfield during an air show conducted as part of the Centre's national celebration of patriotism.
The event took place in the esteemed presence of Gujarat Energy Minister Rushikesh Patel and Member of Parliament Hari Patel, transforming the skies over North Gujarat into a vivid display of the Tricolour.
In his address, Energy Minister Rushikesh Patel expressed that hosting the Surya Kiran air show in Mehsana was a moment of pride for North Gujarat. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for facilitating the event.
Patel emphasized India's rising global stature, stating, “Today, India leads the world with messages of patience, peace, and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The bravery of our Air Force, Navy, and Army is a source of immense pride for every Indian.”
He noted recent military successes like Operation Sindoor, highlighting India's increasing confidence and readiness under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
Patel further mentioned that the Prime Minister's commitment to national security, peace, and development has bolstered India’s international standing. He stressed that initiatives such as Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and the Vocal for Local movement are laying the groundwork for a robust and self-sufficient India.
MP Haribhai Patel, while appreciating the Indian Air Force, characterized the show as “a manifestation of pure patriotism.” He noted that the Surya Kiran display has sparked inspiration and enthusiasm among the populace, labeling it a step towards constructing a “New India.” The MP also commended the involvement of female pilots in the show, describing it as a commendable example of women's empowerment in contemporary India.
Established in 1996, SKAT is Asia's only nine-aircraft aerobatic team, epitomizing excellence and discipline under the motto “Sada Sarvottam (Always the Best).” The team has dazzled audiences with over 700 performances in India and internationally, including shows in China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE. Earlier this year, they enchanted viewers in Vadodara, Jamnagar, Naliya, and Bhuj.
During the Mehsana show, nine Hawk Mk132 jets executed breathtaking maneuvers, including the Diamond Formation, Tejas formation, loops, rolls, head-on crosses, and inverted DNA formations—all within five meters of each other. As the Tricolour trails illuminated the sky, the audience erupted in applause, celebrating the colors that symbolize courage, peace, and prosperity—saffron, white, and green. The event was expertly coordinated by Air Force pilots Kamal Sandhu and Gaurav Patel.
Among the distinguished guests were MLAs Sukhaji Thakor and K.K. Patel, District Collector S.K. Prajapati, DCP Tarun Dugal, Dudh Sagar Dairy Chairman Ashok Chaudhary, Unjha APMC Chairman Dinesh Patel, District Bank Chairman Vinod Patel, former MP Natuji Thakor, and senior officials from ONGC and the Indian Air Force.
