New Delhi, Aug 15 (NationPress) As the country moves towards its goal of becoming a 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India) by 2047, a vibrant portrayal of ‘New India’ was showcased at the Red Fort on Friday.
The nation celebrated its 79th Independence Day with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm of the festivities from the historic site in the center of Delhi.
The Prime Minister raised the National Flag from the Red Fort's ramparts and addressed the citizens, with this year's Independence Day theme centered around ‘New India’. The celebrations depicted a vision of a thriving, secure, and empowered nation, igniting renewed vigor to strive for ongoing growth and advancement.
A stunning display unfolded along Gyanpath, where 2,500 cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with volunteers from My India, formed a structure resembling the ‘New India’ logo.
Following a ceremonial flower shower, the Prime Minister articulated his vision for the country's future during his address. The event concluded with NCC cadets and My India volunteers performing the National Anthem.
Upon his arrival, PM Modi was welcomed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. He reviewed a Guard of Honour consisting of 96 personnel before heading to the ramparts, where he was received by the nation's top military leaders: Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Naval Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh. Flying Officer Rashika Sharma assisted the Prime Minister in unfurling the National Flag.
