New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) The INDIA bloc, spearheaded by the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to proceed from the Parliament House Complex to the Election Commission of India (ECI) office in Delhi on Monday, as per sources.
The MPs from the opposition bloc will traverse the one km route to the ECI office and have already requested a meeting with the Election Commissioners.
On the same day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is expected to host a dinner for the MPs of the INDIA bloc, according to reports, as the opposition alliance amplifies its efforts to present a consolidated front against the alleged manipulation of electoral rolls in Bihar and purported widespread rigging during polls.
Sources suggest that Kharge will host the gathering at Taj Palace in Chanakyapuri, which is likely to be attended by members of the INDIA bloc.
This initiative comes on the heels of a demonstration of opposition unity just days after the leaders of the INDIA bloc convened for a dinner meeting at the residence of Rahul Gandhi.
During that meeting, the opposition leaders committed to contesting the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and what they describe as the BJP-Election Commission's "vote chori" strategy.
Numerous leaders from over 25 parties participated in the meeting, including Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray from Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar of NCP-SP, Mehbooba Mufti from PDP, Tejashwi Yadav from RJD, Akhilesh Yadav from SP, Farooq Abdullah of National Conference, Abhishek Banerjee from Trinamool Congress, Tiruchi Siva and T.R. Baalu from DMK, D. Raja from CPI, M.A. Baby from CPI(M), Kamal Haasan from MNM, and Dipankar Bhattacharya from CPI(ML).
During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the alleged "vote chori" being executed by the BJP with the backing of the Election Commission.
According to the Congress, Gandhi elucidated the entire "scheme" of how elections are purportedly being "rigged" through this alleged collusion.
"We are forming a united front against electoral manipulation! Our commitment to protect democracy remains unwavering, and we will safeguard it from being undermined at all costs," the Congress stated on X.
Earlier, during a press conference, Gandhi unveiled what he described as explosive evidence of a "significant criminal fraud" within the electoral process, alleging profound collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission.
