New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is set to host a dinner for MPs affiliated with the INDIA bloc on Monday, as per sources. This gathering comes as the opposition alliance amplifies its efforts to showcase a united front against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, amidst allegations of extensive electoral fraud.
The dinner is scheduled to take place at Taj Palace in Chanakyapuri and is expected to see participation from various MPs of the INDIA bloc.
This initiative follows a demonstration of opposition solidarity, occurring just days after the leaders of the INDIA bloc convened for a dinner meeting at the residence of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha.
During this earlier meeting, opposition leaders committed to resisting the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and criticized what they termed the BJP-Election Commission's 'vote chori' strategy.
Attendees included leaders from 25 different parties, among them Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar of NCP-SP, Mehbooba Mufti of PDP, Tejashwi Yadav of RJD, Akhilesh Yadav of SP, Farooq Abdullah of National Conference, Abhishek Banerjee of TMC, Tiruchi Siva and T.R. Baalu from DMK, D. Raja from CPI, M.A. Baby from CPI(M), Kamal Haasan of MNM, and Dipankar Bhattacharya from CPI(ML).
During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi provided an in-depth presentation regarding the alleged 'vote chori' orchestrated by the BJP with support from the Election Commission.
Congress claims that Gandhi elucidated the entire 'game' of how elections are purportedly being 'rigged' through this alleged collusion.
'We are united to combat electoral manipulation! We are dedicated to defending democracy and will not allow it to be undermined at any cost,' Congress stated on X.
Earlier at a press conference, Gandhi revealed what he termed explosive evidence of a 'significant criminal fraud' in the electoral process, alleging deep collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission.
