New Delhi, March 6 (NationPress) India on Thursday expressed its strong condemnation of the security breach caused by pro-Khalistani supporters during the visit of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to the UK.

This response followed the circulation of a video showcasing the protest and the security incident involving Khalistani extremists on social media.

While the EAM was engaged in discussions at Chatham House in London on Wednesday, pro-Khalistani activists organized a demonstration, displaying flags and chanting slogans.

In reaction to this event, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement declaring that India regrets the exploitation of democratic freedoms by such factions.

Previously, on Tuesday, Jaishankar held a meeting with UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, addressing crucial matters such as the movement of talent and collaborative efforts to combat trafficking and extremism.

Additionally, he had comprehensive and fruitful discussions with Foreign Secretary David Lammy over two days at Chevening House. 'We covered the full range of our bilateral relationship, particularly focusing on strategic alignment, political cooperation, trade negotiations, education, technology, mobility, and exchanges among people. We agreed to devise the next steps to further enhance and structure our partnership,' stated the EAM.

During his conversation with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Jaishankar touched upon essential regional and global matters, including the Ukraine crisis, West Asia, Bangladesh, and the Commonwealth.

'We talked about advancing our bilateral economic cooperation and boosting exchanges among people. PM Starmer also shared the UK's view on the Ukraine situation,' Jaishankar remarked.

In a world marked by uncertainty and volatility, India-UK relations play a vital role in promoting stability and prosperity, the EAM noted in a post on the social media platform X.

Previously, pro-Khalistani groups have also organized protests in London.

To recall, in January, pro-Khalistani extremists interrupted a cinema event in London's Harrow, attempting to stop the screening of the film 'Emergency.' India has consistently raised concerns with the UK government regarding incidents of violent protests and intimidation by anti-India elements.

The EAM's visit to the UK commenced on Tuesday and is expected to conclude on Sunday.
