New Delhi, December 5 (NationPress) - India and Russia have formalized a comprehensive agreement aimed at enhancing their collaboration in the fields of healthcare, medical education, and scientific research.

A representative from the ministry indicated that the agreement, established between India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Russia’s Ministry of Health, seeks to bolster bilateral cooperation in essential health sectors.

According to him, the agreement encompasses various domains, including healthcare system management, professional training of medical personnel, disease prevention and control, maternal and child health, and the integration of digital technologies in healthcare.

“It also includes provisions for joint research, regulation of medicines and medical devices, and measures to address antimicrobial resistance,” he noted.

The ministry representative also mentioned that both nations will promote the exchange of regulatory information, facilitate the movement of specialists and students across institutions, and encourage involvement in international scientific forums.

“Collaborative research initiatives and detailed activity programs will also be developed under this framework,” he stated.

The ministry further revealed that a Joint Working Group on Healthcare Cooperation will be set up to track progress and explore new opportunities.

“This group will convene annually, alternating between India and Russia,” it added.

Furthermore, the ministry emphasized that the agreement signifies a mutual commitment to advancing public health outcomes and maximizing strengths in medical science and healthcare delivery, paving the way for future cooperation.

On Thursday, Union Health Minister JP Nadda held discussions with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Murashko.
