New Delhi, March 29 (NationPress) Two Indian LPG vessels, BW TYR and BW ELM, laden with a total LPG cargo of approximately 94,000 metric tonnes, have successfully navigated through the Gulf region and are now heading towards Indian ports.
The BW TYR is on its way to Mumbai, with an anticipated arrival on March 31, while the BW ELM is bound for New Mangalore, expected to arrive on April 1, as stated by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways on Sunday.
All essential precautions have been implemented to guarantee the safety and security of Indian maritime vessels and their crews operating in the Gulf. The statement confirmed that all Indian seafarers in the area are secure, and no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels have occurred in the last 24 hours.
Currently, there are 18 Indian-flagged vessels with 485 Indian seafarers still present in the western Persian Gulf. The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) is closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with ship owners, RPSL agencies, and Indian Missions.
The DG Shipping Control Room is operational around the clock and has managed 4,523 calls and 8,985 emails since its activation. In the past 24 hours alone, it has received 92 calls and 120 emails.
To date, DG Shipping has successfully facilitated the safe return of over 942 Indian seafarers, including four within the last day.
Port activities across India continue to operate normally, with no reports of congestion. State Maritime Boards from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry have confirmed that operations are running smoothly.
The Ministry of Ports and Shipping is actively coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the welfare of seafarers and uninterrupted maritime operations.
Indian Missions and Posts are maintaining consistent outreach with the local Indian community in the region, providing ongoing support and issuing advisories to ensure their safety and well-being, as noted by the Ministry of External Affairs.
The Ministry is vigilantly observing the evolving circumstances in the Gulf and West Asia, prioritizing the safety, security, and welfare of the Indian community.
