New Delhi, March 1 (NationPress) The total coal output during the April-February timeframe for this fiscal year (FY25) has reached 928.95 million tonnes (MT), showing a 5.73 percent increase from 878.55 MT during the same timeframe last year, as reported by the government on Saturday.

Furthermore, the total coal dispatch has climbed to 929.41 MT, reflecting a 5.50 percent growth from 880.92 MT in the previous year, according to a statement from the Ministry of Coal.

"The coal sector in India is demonstrating robust performance with notable growth in both production and dispatch up to February 2025," the ministry highlighted.

Coal production from 'Captive and Other' sources reached 173.58 MT up to February, marking a 30.16 percent increase from 133.36 MT in the same period last year.

Additionally, coal dispatch from 'Captive and Other' sources was recorded at 178.02 MT up to February 2025, a 31.90 percent increase from 134.96 MT during the same period last year.

The ministry noted that this strong performance emphasizes India’s dedication to energy security and industrial advancement, ensuring the nation effectively meets the rising demand.

The government is committed to promoting infrastructure development and enhancing operational efficiencies to maintain this positive trend in the upcoming months.

On February 28, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, stated that efforts are underway to facilitate clearerances for coal projects. A total of 30 coal blocks will be auctioned in the 12th round.

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his office closely monitoring progress, the minister stressed that coal production is being expedited.

In a noteworthy initiative, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has launched the 'First Aid Training Programme for Homemakers' on a large scale.

This initiative aims to promote awareness of first aid beyond the workplace and into the homes of its employees, thereby nurturing a community that prioritizes primary care and preparedness.

The initiative targets to engage 8,000 homemakers of NCL by June of this year.
