Has India Set a New Global Benchmark in Combating Terrorism?

Jaipur, May 15 (NationPress) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar stated on Thursday that India has established a new global standard in the fight against terrorism, executing precise operations while adhering to a vision of peace.

He pointed out that terrorism is not solely a national issue but a global security threat.

During the inauguration of the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Smriti Pustakalaya in Vidyadhar Nagar, Jaipur, the Vice President remarked: “For the first time, India executed precise strikes on Jaish-e-Muhammed and Lashkar-e-Toiba hideouts beyond its borders, and there was no demand for proof from the international community. This clearly showcased India’s increasing power and global stature.”

Dhankhar highlighted that under the Prime Minister's leadership, India achieved not only military triumphs but also significant diplomatic victories.

“The decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty was historic. Until India's concerns are addressed, there will be no reconsideration. This decisive action sent a strong message both at home and abroad,” he stated.

Celebrating Rajasthan’s rich heritage, the Vice President said, “This is the land of Maharana Pratap and Maharaja Surajmal, who are protectors of our identity and freedom.”

He also reflected on India’s nuclear capability demonstration in Pokhran-II, stating, “India first exhibited its strength on this very soil in May, led by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.”

He added, “Today, India ranks as the fourth-largest power globally and is steadily progressing toward the third position. Our military assets, including BrahMos and Akash missiles, are now recognized worldwide.”

Reflecting on the life and legacy of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, the Vice President described him as “a banyan tree under whose shade everything flourished.”

“His heart and mind were always with the common man. I recall an emotional moment with Chandrashekhar, Nanaji Deshmukh, and Jayaprakash Narayan, discussing the vision of Antyodaya. He truly embodied that philosophy,” said VP Dhankhar.

He commended Shekhawat’s commitment to transparency in public service, noting, “As Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, he set a precedent by requiring all MPs to declare their assets, a progressive step for its time.”

Advocating for political civility, the Vice President said, “Search any part of the world, and you won’t find an adversary of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. He demonstrated that politics is not about enmity but about differing perspectives. Today's leaders, across all parties, should learn from the high standards he established—dialogue, debate, and respectful dissent are essential for a thriving democracy.”

Recalling his experiences as an Opposition MLA during Shekhawat’s tenure, Dhankhar added, “He was empathetic towards every member, including those from the Opposition. He listened, responded, and made every MLA feel valued. He was a leader for all, not just his own party.”
