Patna, Dec 8 (NationPress) The ongoing IndiGo operational crisis has resulted in significant disruptions to air travel from Patna Airport on Monday, with numerous flights cancelled, leaving passengers stranded for the seventh consecutive day.
On Sunday, many travelers missed essential job interviews and important commitments, while others endured long waits at the airport. A total of 10 IndiGo flights to Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and other destinations faced cancellations.
Additionally, several flights encountered delays of up to 30 minutes.
As per airport officials, five IndiGo flights that were set to depart on Monday for cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata have also been cancelled. Affected passengers are being contacted individually.
This situation has led to a noticeable decline in foot traffic at IndiGo ticket counters on Sunday. Many passengers reported renewing their flight tickets multiple times, only to find themselves unable to reach their intended destinations due to cancellations.
Airline representatives have indicated that operations are anticipated to normalize by December 15. A help desk has been established at the airport, along with a dedicated helpline number -- 9771449159 -- for travelers seeking assistance.
In light of these ongoing disruptions, the East Central Railway has stepped in to support stranded passengers. A special train service is being operated from Patna, and an additional passenger coach has been attached to both the Sampoorna Kranti Express and the Tejas Rajdhani Express starting Sunday.
Danapur Division Senior DCM Abhinav Siddhartha stated that a special train from Patna to Anand Vihar Terminal has been arranged. On Monday, the 02309 Patna-Anand Vihar Terminal Special is scheduled to depart at 8:30 p.m. and arrive at Anand Vihar Terminal at 3:00 p.m. the following day.
Moreover, an extra Third AC coach will be added to the Tejas Rajdhani and a Second AC coach to the Sampoorna Kranti Express, increasing the number of coaches on both trains from 22 to 23.
