New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) Priyanka Chaturvedi, MP from Shiv Sena(UBT), formally presented an adjournment motion notice in the Rajya Sabha today, aiming to address the extensive disruptions affecting IndiGo Airlines operations, which have led to significant inconvenience for travelers nationwide.

In her submission, she emphasized: “I hereby submit notice under Rule 180 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) regarding the urgent public concern.”

She pointed out: “The broad disruption in IndiGo Airlines’ services on Wednesday resulted in delays exceeding seven hours and the cancellation of over 70 flights across the nation, impacting major airports such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, primarily due to a critical crew shortage and various operational challenges.”

Currently, IndiGo, recognized as India’s largest airline, is undergoing one of its most significant operational crises in recent years, with extensive cancellations and delays prompting intervention from the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The disruptions, which first surfaced in late November 2025, have escalated, leading the airline to cancel between 170 and 200 flights daily—significantly above usual levels.

On Thursday, over 500 flights were canceled, accompanied by widespread delays. In November alone, the airline faced 1,232 cancellations within its network.

Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu convened an emergency meeting with senior Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) officials and IndiGo’s top management to evaluate the ongoing crisis. The Ministry confirmed it is closely monitoring the situation and has initiated additional oversight measures.

The Minister also instructed the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to inform all airport directors to ensure adequate passenger support and assist stranded travelers. Furthermore, the DGCA has been tasked with monitoring airfare trends in light of concerns that widespread cancellations might drive ticket prices up.
