Individual Arrested with Drugs Valued at Rs 5 Crore in Muzaffarpur, Bihar

Patna, December 22 (NationPress) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully executed a major operation in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, leading to the arrest of an individual and the recovery of 2 kilograms of morphine on Saturday.
The estimated worth of the confiscated substance is around Rs 5 crore in the international market.
This operation, conducted on Saturday, was led by NCB Zonal Director Abhishek Anand.
The NCB revealed that the morphine was smuggled into Bihar from Myanmar. Following a credible tip-off regarding the arrival of the illegal substance, the bureau established a special team that intercepted the suspect at Muzaffarpur station.
"We obtained information indicating that a high-value drug from Myanmar was trafficked into Muzaffarpur. Based on this intelligence, a team was deployed, resulting in the apprehension of the suspect," Anand stated.
The individual is presently undergoing interrogation as the NCB seeks to unravel the supply chain and identify other traffickers involved in this case.
"We are interrogating the suspect to ascertain the origin of the substance and its intended recipients. Based on the information provided, more arrests are expected," Anand added.
The confiscated substance is known to possess properties that alleviate pain and induce profound sleep.
While it can be ingested orally, its effects are more immediate and potent when administered through injection. Commonly misused, this substance acts on the brain and nervous system to obstruct pain signals, offering temporary relief while also alleviating anxiety and stress associated with pain.
"However, the substance carries significant risks. Its misuse may lead to severe side effects, both physical and psychological. Long-term use or abuse can inflict serious harm on the body, making it a perilous and addictive drug if not utilized under appropriate medical supervision," Anand emphasized.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) underscores the necessity of curtailing such substances to prevent misuse and safeguard public health.
This operation highlights the NCB’s dedication to combating drug trafficking and protecting communities from the threats posed by narcotics.
