Instill Fear in Criminals, Ensure Safety for Citizens: Karnataka CM's Directive to Police

Bengaluru, Jan 8 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called upon law enforcement to instill a sense of fear in wrongdoers while simultaneously creating a safe environment for the general populace.

During the inauguration of newly built police stations and offices in Chamarajpet, Cubbon Park, and High Grounds, along with new police housing complexes in Pulakeshinagar in Bengaluru, CM Siddaramaiah highlighted the essential role that the police department plays in maintaining peace and security within the state.

He issued a stern warning against any collusion between police personnel and the real estate mafia.

"The government will not tolerate any police officers who assist the real estate mafia under any circumstances. It is crucial to create fear among criminals while ensuring that ordinary citizens feel secure," he stated.

He continued, "With the state's population exceeding seven crore, it is the police department's duty to safeguard the lives, property, and dignity of all individuals, while fostering a safe and tranquil environment. The government is committed to providing the necessary resources and establishing new police stations to support this goal," added CM Siddaramaiah.

The Chief Minister noted that a stable environment contributes to accelerated development.

He urged police to adopt a community-friendly approach and to treat individuals visiting police stations with respect and care.

"It is encouraging to see that crime rates in the state are on the decline. However, if the police relax their vigilance, criminals will take advantage of the situation to evade justice. This cannot be permitted," he cautioned.

Siddaramaiah pointed out that factors such as unemployment and lack of opportunities often lead individuals towards criminal behavior, while the growth in the real estate sector in urban areas has been linked to an increase in criminal activities.

Furthermore, he acknowledged the dedication of the police force, reiterating the government’s commitment to their welfare and assuring that the housing scheme for police personnel would continue.
