Bengaluru, April 2 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urged the state police on Wednesday to leverage technological advancements in the fight against cybercrime, emphasizing that law and order are fundamentally connected to investment and development.

He noted that unemployment is escalating, and to combat this, maintaining law and order, as well as peace and stability, is essential.

Siddaramaiah made these comments at the Police Flag Day celebrations held at Koramangala Parade Ground.

“This year, we have issued the Chief Minister’s Medals that were pending for the last three years in a single ceremony. Congratulations to all awardees,” he stated.

Expressing his ambition to create a drug-free state, Siddaramaiah called on the police to take a pledge to eradicate drug networks entirely.

“Over the past two years, the crime rate has been on a downward trend. We must ensure this pattern continues,” he asserted.

Reinforcing the link between law and order and economic prosperity, he underscored the necessity of peace and stability for driving investment and job creation.

“The Prime Minister and officials from Germany have commended the state’s police for their skills and professionalism. This is a significant source of pride,” he remarked.

“Our government is consistently ready to address the needs of the police. We stand behind you, but any negligence in duty will not be accepted. The police beat system should be implemented with greater effectiveness,” he instructed.

He urged for the absolute elimination of hooliganism and rowdyism.

“The government is willing to provide all necessary support and resources. All announcements made for the Police Department in the recent Budget will be executed,” he assured.

Present at the event were State Home Minister G. Parameshwara, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Umashankar, Director General of Police Alok Mohan, Chief Minister's Political Secretary Naseer Ahmed, and Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister L. K. Atheeq.
