Bengaluru, Oct 28 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has made a passionate appeal to the state police, asking them to unite with him in the mission to transform Karnataka into a drugs-free state. He urged the officers to engage in decisive and collaborative actions against this grave issue.
“My aspiration is to see Karnataka free from drugs, and I encourage all of you to adopt this mission as your own. Achieving this will earn the gratitude of the citizens of Karnataka towards the police force,” the Chief Minister emphasized.
He made these remarks while distributing new peak caps to law enforcement personnel, launching the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, and unveiling the ‘Sanmitra’ action plan handbook at a gathering organized by the Karnataka State Police Department in the Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall.
“Our youth, students, and younger generation must not fall victim to drugs. The police force should firmly and resolutely combat this challenge,” he stated.
“Previously, Mangaluru district experienced frequent communal disturbances and misconduct by police officers. The in-charge officials at that time failed to maintain order, prompting my decision to transfer two of them. Now, Mangaluru is under control. This success belongs to our officers and staff — they are part of us. If you commit to this cause, anything is achievable. Show it through your actions,” the Chief Minister implored.
“Just as you brought Mangaluru under control, you can also tackle the drug problem statewide. If successful, the reputation of Karnataka Police will reach international acclaim,” he added.
“There are some police personnel who are connected with real estate operators and drug syndicates. It's in your hands to eliminate these criminal elements. The fear of law enforcement has diminished among criminals. Reflect on why this is the case — you already know the answer,” Siddaramaiah appealed to the moral compass of the police force.
“You are aware of who sells drugs, who imports them, and who the network's agents are. Strive to make Karnataka a ‘Drugs-Free State’ without delay. Achieve this and demonstrate tangible results,” he urged.
“I personally selected the design of the newly released peak cap. We have updated the model that has been in use since 1956 — nearly 70 years. Now, both officers and personnel will sport a unified cap design. I trust this change will enhance your confidence,” the Chief Minister remarked.
“It’s not merely the cap that should change — you must also elevate your performance,” he added.
The Chief Minister praised the police department's effectiveness, stating, “The government receives recognition due to the dedication of the police department. The India Justice Report ranking Karnataka Police as the best in the nation has significantly boosted the state's reputation.”
