Jaipur, April 9 (NationPress) In response to the escalating temperatures and persistent heatwave in Rajasthan, the Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium in Jaipur is preparing for the first IPL 2025 match on April 13 with special provisions.
To prioritize the health of both fans and athletes, ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) counters and drinking water stations will be established throughout the stadium.
Neeraj K. Pawan, Secretary of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, informed IANS, “With the mercury rising and the match being a day event, we have urged the administration to set up ORS counters throughout the stadium to ensure hydration for everyone.”
Furthermore, complimentary water will be available at several points within the venue.
Pawan also mentioned that a specialized medical team will be present on-site to provide immediate medical assistance to both spectators and players, ensuring a swift response to any heat-related incidents.
In a move toward sustainability, Pawan revealed: “We have entered into an MoU with Bisleri, where the company will manage the collection of all discarded plastic bottles and caps from the stadium. In exchange, they will supply eco-friendly benches as part of our green initiative.”
He noted that in line with the Chief Minister’s ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign and the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, fans will be encouraged to plant a sapling each during the Sawan month.
The number of trees planted will correlate with the runs scored during the match.
Pawan explained that this innovative initiative will see the number of runs achieved in the five IPL matches hosted at Sawai Mansingh Stadium dictate the number of trees planted.
“Considering that both teams generally score about 400 runs per match, the government aims to plant between 1,500 and 2,000 trees in and around the stadium,” stated Pawan.
He added that all players participating in the Jaipur matches will plant a tree as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Previously, players from Rajasthan Royals like Rahul Dravid, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel have planted trees at the stadium. This initiative will now include players from Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.
“This will be a Green IPL, and we are dedicated to establishing a standard for sustainable sports event management. SMS Stadium will serve as a model for eco-friendly sporting events,” Pawan asserted.
The inaugural IPL 2025 match in Jaipur will witness an exciting showdown between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The RR team is anticipated to arrive in Jaipur on April 10, followed by RCB on April 11, as per the officials from Rajasthan Royals.
