Jaipur, March 20 (NationPress) As Jaipur prepares for the IPL 2025 season, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium will undergo a stunning Rajasthani-themed transformation. The venue will showcase traditional lehariya and panchranga decor, infusing a lively local essence into the stadium, according to Neeraj K. Pawan, Secretary of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department.
Pawan shared with IANS the significance of presenting cricket enthusiasts with Rajasthan’s vibrant cultural heritage.
“The illumination within the stadium will embody the vivid hues of Rajasthan, creating a festive atmosphere,” he noted.
In an exciting development, this year’s IPL matches in Jaipur will feature live performances by Rajasthani folk artists, moving past the usual cheerleading format.
“Historically, audiences have witnessed cheerleaders dancing to IPL music, but this season, folk artists will enchant spectators with their remarkable skills,” he mentioned to IANS.
In a progressive step towards sustainability, IPL events in Rajasthan will include a sapling planting initiative. “Each player will plant as many saplings as the runs they score during the tournament,” Pawan disclosed.
This initiative aims to turn the SMS Stadium into a green venue by next year.
Furthermore, this year’s IPL in Jaipur will be organized as a Green IPL, promoting a plastic-free atmosphere during the matches.
Beyond the realm of cricket and culture, the Jaipur IPL matches will act as a platform for social impact. The government intends to utilize the event for raising awareness about organ and eye donation. Players will appear in brief awareness videos urging individuals to pledge their organs.
“Three lakh individuals are awaiting eye transplants. Through this IPL, we strive to enhance awareness via hoardings and campaigns,” he stated.
“Families of the deceased can still provide blessings to those in need through organ donation,” Pawan emphasized.
