He was subsequently released on bail, while his vehicle was confiscated for further investigation.
The incident took place around 2.30 am in the Akota area as Martin was driving from Akota towards his residence on OP Road in an MG Hector.
Authorities reported that the vehicle lost control near Punit Nagar Society, resulting in a chain reaction crash into a Kia Seltos, a Hyundai Venue, and a Maruti Celerio parked nearby.
The collision caused significant damage to the vehicles; however, there were no injuries noted.
Emergency response teams and officers from the Akota Police Station arrived at the scene and took Martin into custody.
A police spokesperson indicated that the 53-year-old exhibited obvious signs of alcohol consumption.
“He was unsteady and clearly appeared to be intoxicated. Consequently, charges were filed for reckless driving and liquor law violations,” the officer stated.

Additionally, Martin faced accusations under Section 66(1)(B) of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. The MG Hector, valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh, was seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
After being released on bail later that day, police noted that further legal actions would be pursued following the completion of procedural requirements and technical evaluations related to the incident.
Jacob Martin has played for India in 10 One-Day Internationals and has held the captaincy for the Vadodara domestic cricket team.
His international career began against the West Indies in 1999 in Toronto.
Records indicate that Martin has been involved in previous prohibition-related offenses in Vadodara.
