Mumbai, Feb 17 (NationPress) BJP Mumbai Vice President Hitesh Jain has claimed that Congress leader Sam Pitroda’s comments on China are in line with the overall position of the historic party, accusing it of having a long-standing pro-China stance.

Speaking to IANS, Jain stated, “This is not merely a personal or controversial remark -- it symbolizes the official stance of the Congress party. Historically, the party has made several declarations that seem to favor China.

Jain also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he has endorsed Chinese-manufactured drones and has a past of interacting with China in ways that raise concerns about his party’s priorities.

“It’s well-known that Congress entered into a memorandum of understanding with China, which clearly shows their inclination towards the nation. This isn’t just about Sam Pitroda -- his statements reflect the Congress party’s enduring position,” Jain informed IANS.

According to Jain, Pitroda's statements were not in the national interest and were rather driven by political motives to protect Congress’ relationships and ideological affiliations.

Jain emphasized that Congress has persistently adopted stances that diverge from India's national interests.

“The Congress party has a trend of making comments that are sympathetic towards China. They are not presenting independent opinions but are simply echoing the party’s wider pro-China position,” he asserted.

Pitroda, a seasoned Congress leader and a close associate of Rahul Gandhi, has indicated that the perceived threat from China is often overstated and advocated for a reassessment of India’s approach towards the neighboring country.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, Pitroda mentioned that India should progress beyond a confrontational stance and adopt a more pragmatic approach towards China. He argued that nurturing an adversarial relationship with China would only escalate tensions and that India must recognize China’s status while sustaining diplomatic interactions.

Nonetheless, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh distanced the party from Pitroda’s comments, clarifying that they do not represent the official viewpoint of the Congress.

Jain also tackled allegations regarding foreign financial influences on the Congress party. He asserted that there have been conversations in the United States about American institutions financing certain entities in India to undermine the current government.

“This is not merely an allegation from the BJP -- it has been noted in discussions overseas that American institutions have provided financial aid to specific individuals in India and beyond. This issue warrants a comprehensive investigation,” Jain told IANS.
