  • Political motives should not undermine security forces.

New Delhi, July 30 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar vehemently criticized the Opposition on Wednesday for their apparent ignorance regarding the phrase 'India’s new normal'. He introduced a new term, 'Modi normal', to clarify the country's revamped strategy for addressing terrorism and dismantling terror networks, regardless of their geographical location.

During the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha, Jaishankar noted that some members raised concerns over the term 'new normal', prompting him to elucidate India's security doctrine through the comparisons of 'Modi normal' and 'Congress normal'.

He emphasized that the 'Modi normal' has established clear guidelines and unwavering principles concerning national security that are non-negotiable.

“Terrorists will not be regarded as proxies; cross-border terrorism will receive a decisive response. Dialogue and terrorism cannot coexist, we will not succumb to nuclear coercion, and blood and water will not flow together,” he stated, outlining the redefined national strategy under the Modi administration.

Importantly, the 'new normal' policy emerged after the Modi government granted full operational autonomy to the armed forces during Operation Sindoor. It asserted that any act of terrorism on Indian territory would be considered an assault on India’s sovereignty, warranting a forceful military response.

Jaishankar further remarked that India’s Operation Sindoor performed a global service by dismantling terror hubs in Pakistan.

“Bahalwapur and Muridke are the largest centers for fostering terrorism both within India and abroad. Our forces have obliterated these sites; they have rendered a global service and are receiving appropriate recognition,” he said.

Criticizing the 'skeptical' Opposition, he pointed out numerous instances where Pakistani military establishments have faced the wrath of Indian forces, yet some individuals continue to undermine our security forces for political gain.

He highlighted that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif openly acknowledged the Indian military's strikes damaging their military assets, but this acknowledgment fails to sway those who remain doubtful of the Army’s successes.

“Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif admitted that General Munir informed him about Indian ballistic missiles hitting their Noor Khan airbase and missiles like BrahMos targeting regions like Rawalpindi,” he stated, lamenting that political factions at home are disparaging the remarkable achievements of the Indian Armed Forces for their own political advantages.

EAM Jaishankar's articulation of 'Modi normal' presents a strong direction for our approach to terrorism, emphasizing the importance of sovereignty and decisive action. It’s crucial that we support our armed forces while ensuring a robust debate on national security.
