New Delhi, March 1 (NationPress) The celebration of Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2025 has begun with immense enthusiasm, highlighted by a padyatra (awareness walk) on Saturday in Nalasopara East, Palghar district of Maharashtra.

The padyatra was inaugurated by Rinku Vishwakarma, Vice President of the Vasai-Virar District Traders' Association (BJP), in front of Anmol Bakery on Achole Road.

A significant number of participants joined the event, displaying banners and posters that advocated for the advantages of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which offer quality medicines at prices that are 50-80 percent lower than their branded counterparts.

The Prime Minister’s Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMBJP) aims to guarantee the availability of affordable and high-quality medicines to the economically disadvantaged sections of society. As part of this initiative, Jan Aushadhi Week (March 1-7) is being observed to raise awareness about these government-operated pharmacies.

During the event, Rinku Vishwakarma stated, "From March 1 to March 7, Jan Aushadhi Diwas is celebrated. In support of this, our party members have organized this padyatra to increase awareness about the initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This scheme is benefitting numerous individuals by making essential medicines accessible at reduced prices, ensuring affordable healthcare for everyone."

Dheeraj Kumar, a Jan Aushadhi Kendra operator, underscored the importance of this initiative, mentioning, "Jan Aushadhi Diwas is celebrated as part of the central government’s program to provide low-cost medicines. The accessibility of such affordable medicines is advantageous for all, making healthcare more attainable."

Meanwhile, Rohit Mishra, one of the padyatra organizers, stressed, "Today's padyatra is part of the Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebrations. I am participating in this event to promote awareness regarding this initiative. Individuals should actively support Jan Aushadhi Kendras as they supply high-quality medicines at considerably lower prices, thus making treatment more affordable."

Earlier in the day, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda officially launched Jan Aushadhi Week by flagging off the ‘Jan Aushadhi Rath’ in Delhi-NCR. This mobile awareness campaign is set to travel across various regions, educating the public about the benefits of Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
