The Jan Aushadhi Kendras, established under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), represent a public welfare initiative that provides quality medicines at reasonable prices to the masses.
Initiated in November 2008, the scheme is executed through the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI).

The PMBJP offers around “2,047 drugs and 300 surgical items catering to a variety of therapeutic needs,” Nadda mentioned.
The Union Minister stated that “the PMBJP upholds sustainability through stringent quality controls, competitive procurement, and a robust supply chain managed by PMBI.”
Highlighting that the Kendras are “redefining affordable healthcare,” Nadda shared plans to “establish 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras by March 31, 2027, across the nation.”
