Jammu, April 20 (NationPress) A devastating hailstorm and a series of landslides in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban resulted in the loss of at least three lives early on Sunday. Authorities reported that over 100 individuals were rescued as heavy rainfall triggered flash floods, prompting the initiation of relief operations.
According to officials, a cloudburst in Seri Bagna village led to the tragic deaths of three individuals, including brothers Aqib Ahmad and Mohd Saqib. Approximately 40 homes were damaged when a flash flood swept through Dharam Kund village.
Continuous rainfall caused landslides and mudslides at nearly a dozen locations between Nashri and Banihal on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, effectively halting traffic on the nearly 300-km stretch.
J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the fatalities resulting from the flash floods in Ramban.
"I am deeply pained by the tragic loss of precious lives due to the flash floods triggered by relentless rain in Ramban. My sincere condolences go out to the grieving families during this tragic time," he remarked.
He added that the district administration, along with the State Disaster Response Force and rescue teams, were actively working to provide swift assistance, ensuring all possible support is extended to affected families.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also conveyed their condolences regarding the incident.

The National Highway has been blocked; unfortunately, we have experienced three casualties and property loss for several families. I am in constant communication with Deputy Commissioner Mr. Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary," Dr. Singh posted on X.
“The district administration deserves commendation for their timely and effective actions that saved numerous lives. Comprehensive relief, both financial and otherwise, is being provided. The DC has been informed that any additional resources needed can be provided from my personal funds as well. I urge everyone not to panic. Together, we will overcome this natural disaster," Dr. Singh, who represents the area, stated.
