New Delhi, May 22 (NationPress) A month following the Pahalgam terror incident that rattled Jammu and Kashmir, BJP Rajya Sabha member Gulam Ali Khatana stated on Thursday that the region has returned to normalcy and encouraged individuals from all over India to visit and enjoy the warmth of the Valley.
In a conversation with IANS, Khatana remarked: "J&K has regained its normal status. The renowned hospitality of the local populace is celebrated globally."
He described the recent event in Pahalgam as a disturbing occurrence and stressed that such events must not be repeated.
“We hope that our security measures will ensure complete safety, allowing tourists to relish the beauty and warmth of Kashmir,” he continued.
Khatana, who is part of various all-party delegations aimed at highlighting India’s counter-terrorism efforts globally, underscored the importance of India’s Operation Sindoor in dismantling terror networks and revealing Pakistan’s involvement in promoting cross-border terrorism.
"We are advocating for India on the global stage and exposing how Pakistan has historically supported terrorism—whether in Punjab, Kashmir over the last 25–30 years, or even in Afghanistan. It’s a hostile country where democracy is suppressed and its nuclear assets remain insecure. We call upon international bodies, including the nuclear oversight agency, to take notice," he stated during the interview with IANS.
Khatana expressed his support for the Centre’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, asserting that India stands united in this battle, with Operation Sindoor serving as a significant demonstration of that commitment.
In response to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre regarding the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack, he asserted: "These issues are for the Home and Defence Ministries to handle—not the opposition's concern."
Khatana also welcomed former Union Minister Anand Sharma’s endorsement of Operation Sindoor and the government's diplomatic initiatives. The Congress leader had praised the idea of sending an all-party delegation abroad to present India’s position on terrorism. However, in light of some leaders criticizing the government regarding Operation Sindoor, the MP remarked: "When individuals face political rejection, it is natural for frustration to increase."
