Jharkhand: NIA Files Charges Against Two for Extortion Linked to PLFI Terror Activities

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has, on Friday, submitted extortion and conspiracy charges in a Special Court located in Ranchi against two additional suspects linked to the resurgence of the terror group People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in Jharkhand and surrounding areas.

The second supplementary chargesheet in this matter identifies Nilamber Gope alias Delga alias Dikal and Shiv Kumar Sahu, both residents of Khunti district in Jharkhand, under section 120 B in conjunction with section 384 of the IPC. They also face charges under Sections 13, 17, 18, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which pertains to financing terrorist activities.

Shiv Kumar Sahu and Nilamber Gope played a role in assisting other PLFI members in collecting “levy” from local businesses by disseminating PLFI threat pamphlets, channeling the extorted funds via customer service centers and banking systems, and supplying mobile contact information for contractors and business people involved in development projects within Jharkhand.

NIA investigations have confirmed the participation of both accused individuals, recognized as PLFI members, in a case initiated by the agency on October 11, 2023.

This case pertains to the involvement of PLFI cadres in generating funds through extortion targeting various coal traders, transporters, railway contractors, and business entities in Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

Additionally, PLFI members have allegedly plotted to execute various terrorist acts, including murders, arson, and violent assaults, aiming to instill fear among the populace, particularly among business owners and contractors, with the purpose of reviving and fortifying their organization across these states.
