Jammu, December 15 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) submitted a chargesheet on Monday regarding the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22, at the designated NIA court in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir.
In their official announcement, the NIA revealed that they have charged seven individuals in this case, which includes the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), both recognized as terrorist organizations.
The chargesheet outlines the conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan, detailing the roles of the accused and the substantial evidence supporting the case. The document charges the banned LeT/TRF as a legal entity for its involvement in the planning, facilitation, and execution of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The NIA indicated that the incident involved religiously motivated targeted killings perpetrated by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists, leading to the deaths of 25 tourists and one local resident. Notably, the chargesheet identifies Pakistani terrorist handler Sajid Jatt as one of the accused, documented in a comprehensive 1,597-page report submitted to the NIA Special Court in Jammu.
Furthermore, the NIA identified three Pakistani terrorists who were neutralized by Indian security forces during Operation Mahadev in Dachigam, Srinagar, in July 2025, just weeks following the Pahalgam attack. These terrorists are recognized as Faisal Jatt a.k.a. Suleman Shah, Habeeb Tahir a.k.a. Jibran, and Hamza Afghani.
According to the NIA, the LeT/TRF and the aforementioned terrorists face charges under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.
The agency's chargesheet also invokes legal provisions concerning waging war against the Government of India, as stated in their announcement.
After nearly eight months of thorough and scientific investigation, the NIA traced the conspiracy behind this case, registered as RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU, back to Pakistan, which it alleges continues to sponsor terrorism against India.
Additionally, the NIA charged two individuals, Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmad Jothatd, who were apprehended on June 22, 2025, for sheltering the terrorists involved in the attack.
During their interrogation, the two suspects revealed the identities of the three armed terrorists involved in the attack, confirming their affiliation with the proscribed LeT.
The NIA emphasized that investigations into the case are ongoing.
